Where Our Passion Began

We'll let John Livingston, the president of Ranger Tugs, explain a bit of his history and passion for boats and boating in his own words.

"Growing up in a family that spent weekends on the water, I can't imagine a life without boating. I had the experience of boating in a great variety of conditions, primarily in the Northwest: water sports on the lakes, crossing the Straits of Juan De Fuca with huge tide changes, strong winds, and rollers from the Pacific; exploring and fishing in Canadian, Alaskan, and Florida's coastal waters. These were family affairs and fun times. We were also testing new models or ideas for Livingston Boat Company, Reinell, Bayliner, Wellcraft, and Regal.

I have incorporated the ideas and experiences of an insatiable user into the structure, design, and quality that I want in a boat.

Our company was started in 1958 based on a philosophy of quality and 'doing things right' and the reputation we earned continues today. My father and brother (each a seasoned boater) work with me daily. My brother David earned a Bachelor of Science in Product Design from the Art Center College of Design and is responsible for design related matters. and my father Dave is probably the most accomplished boat designer in the world. Creator of thousands of models for various manufacturers, he can boast that more people have owned a boat that he built than any other designer. We concentrate on one model at a time from ideation through in-house design, testing, and manufacturing. Our sales effort is lead by Jeff Messmer who has an impressive history in sales and customer service. In our shop, boats are put together by some of the most experienced boatbuilders in the Northwest. With an average of 15+ years in the business, our staff works hard to ensure that when you're in one of our boats, you'll have fun on the water."

Ranger Tugs announces the delivery of the 100th Ranger Tug 29 to her new owners.

(from Soundings: Trade Only / Feb. 6, 2012)

Ranger R29 Hull 100The 100th boat was sold by Marc Grove, owner of Wefings Marine, the Apalachicola, Fla.-based Ranger Tugs dealer. He was also responsible for the sale of the first R29 in 2009.

Grove sold the 100th hull at the 2011 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show to new owners Ruth and Wally Naset, who will take delivery in Summerland Key, Fla., and plan to cruise their home waters in the Florida Keys and beyond.

"It's a rewarding experience to be a part of selling and delivering hull Nos. 1 and 100 of the R29. Over the years, the entire lineup has been through various improvements and changes that make them as comfortable, fuel-efficient and maneuverable as possible," Grove said in a statement.

We invite you to stop by Wefing's Marine any time to look over one of these beautiful boats in person. Call ahead and we will be happy to schedule a test ride for you as soon as possible.
